One cold winter day a little black and white shih tzu (now known as Charlie the Adorable) was rescued from a miserable existence. He was a tangle of matted hair and fleas. His neck was raw from having been tied up and having a collar that was too small. Charlie became the absolute love of my life. He was so good and so grateful to have a warm loving home but he did not want to wear a collar (and who could blame him).
We looked everywhere for a collar that would be comfortable for Charlie, but the dog collars available in the stores were stiff and uncomfortable for him. They were also boring. As a quilter who had years of experience sewing, I decided to do the research and make this little boy a collar that he could tolerate. After much research and trial and error, Comfy Collars were developed. Â
Charlie loves his Comfy Collars and before you knew it, his family friends and even total strangers were clamoring for Comfy Collars of their own! These dog collars are individually made by me and are not mass-produced! I constantly search for cute fabrics and for better ways to make these little collars for Charlie and his friends.
Charlie now has a little sister Lola. Lola is also a shih tzu and was adopted from a local rescue facility (see our rescue links). Lola lived in a puppy mill and had apparently never even been out of a crate. She didn't know how to walk down stairs or even what grass was! I am happy to report that after a year in our household and with Charlie's patient example, she is a happy, healthy, bossy little girl! Lola loves to dress up and her friend Sugar even gave her a tiara! She knows she is a princess without a doubt.
My goal is to continue to make unique, hip and fun dog collars so that Charlie, Lola and all their friends can have a Comfy Collar for each holiday and some just for fun!

poor charlie suffering in that way how sad and cruel and little lola kept in a crate , I despise anyform of ill treatment or cruelty to animals, charlie and lola are just two lucky little doggys to have found a mom who cares so much about them, so nice to have a happy ending to such a cruel beginning for these two little guys
